Aimee del Valle is a British watercolour artist based in rural France. Her early life was spent heavily involved in the world of dance and theatre which ran perfectly alongside her passion for drawing and painting. When she wasn’t dancing she was sketching people, especially dancers, an interest which was nurtured by her two naturally artistic parents.
Ballet remains a strong influence in her work and her ballerina paintings are often described as dreamlike and ethereal. She is also greatly influenced by the human form and her nudes and portraits express raw human emotion and sentiment using fast and expressive brushwork. She has a comparatively loose and liberal technique with which she allows the paint to create its own rhythms and imperfections, reminiscent of real life.
“I am inspired by people, their psychology and their cultures as well as animals and all things living and beautiful.”
